Tue 28th Nov 2006 : Ollerton - A lorry seen to strike a Barn Owl that was flying across the A614 (just north of Ollerton roundabout) at 11.45pm. The owl landed dazed but alive in the road and by the time the observer had stopped and gone back, the owl had gone, presumably flown (hopefully)
Tue 28th Nov 2006 : Lound - Chainbridge NR Scrape - 1 Dunlin, 12 Shellducks, 2 Redshanks and 2 Green Woodpeckers. Clayworh Common - 3 Whooper Swans, 1 Black Swan, 70 Mute Swans and 400 Golden Plovers. The Willows - 1 male Sparrowhawk, 60 Fieldfares, 15 Redwings, 30 Stock Doves and 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker; Neatholme Scrape - 7 Dunlins, 2 male Pintails, 3 Snipe and 1 Barnacle Goose.
Tue 28th Nov 2006 : Longford Lowfields - 3 Wigeon, 5 Gadwell, 2 Pintail, 10 Yellowhammers and a flock of 11 Grey Herons. Green-winged Teal not seen.
Mon 27th Nov 2006 : Longford Lowfields - 3.15pm drake Green-winged Teal from viewing screen (was with drake Teal and white vertical line on breast was clear). Also 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel, 3 Shelducks, 6 Shovelers.

Sat 18th Nov 2006 : Lound - Chainbridge NR Scrape - 5 Shelduck and 1 Redshank. Neatholme Scrape - 5 Goldeneye. Neatholme Pit - 5 Goldeneye. Linghurst Pit - 100 Great Black-backed Gulls. Water Ski Pit - 2 Goldeneye and 1 (1st Winter/female) Scaup still. Please report any illegal quad or motorbike incursions on the SSSI areas to the Nottinghamshire police on (01909)500999 stating time, whereabouts, any registration numbers and any details about these offenders. Anyone found shooting and fishing on the SSSI should also be reported to either the police or directly to Tarmac who own and manage the site.

Sat 18th Nov 2006 : Bestwood CP (Mill Lakes) - 2 Wigeon, 6 Gadwall, 4 Teal, 1 Shoveler, 22 Pochard, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Cormorant, 3+ Grey Heron, 2 Kestrel (m+f), 1 Peregrine, c40 Fieldfare, 5+ Redwing , Goldcrest, 2 Bullfinch (m+f), 2 Reed Bunting (m+f). The Peregrine and Kestrels were at the north end/water meadow. They seemed to be attracted by a loudspeaker device playing raptor calls in a nearby farmer's field.

Tue 7th Nov 2006 : Netherfield Lagoons NR - 1000+ Golden Plovers Deep water lagoon. Female Bullfinch in bushes alongside Teal Close. Grey Wagtail and Kingfisher small bridge at end of Teal Close. Male Blackcap feeding on berries at the end of Teal Close.

Neatholme Scrape - c800 Golden Plover, 2 Dunlin, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Pintail, 6 Goldeneye and a single feral Black Swan.
Tue 7th Nov 2006 : Hoveringham GPs - 3 Green Woodpecker riverside. 2 x Whooper Swan on sailing lake--flew off westbound @ 1430.
Tue 7th Nov 2006 : Attenborough - 10 Snipe on the works pit accompanied by 6 Goosanders. Good numbers of Kingfisher throughout the reserve including a glamorous male posing on the post outside the Delta hide. Green and Greater Spotted woodpecker. Goldeneye on Clifton pit and a Jay flew over (Not as common as you may think here). Yellow-legged Gull on the Sailing pit. Migrant Hawker and Common Darter Dragonflies still throughout reserve!

Fri 3rd Nov 2006 : Holme Pierrepont - female blackcap, redwing, jay, grey wagtail, 2 redshank 1 with a gammy leg.
Fri 3rd Nov 2006 : Attenborough - 12 Tree Sparrows, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker [feeders new hide]. 2 Goldeneyes [Tween pond], Kingfisher, Jay, Siskin, Redpoll in trees by railway crossing. Bullfinch along track by railway line. 5 Goosanders, mainly juveniles, [Works pond].
Thu 2nd Nov 2006 : Wollaton Park - AM: a large flock (50+) of Fieldfares passed through overhead
Thu 2nd Nov 2006 : Kingsmill Reservoir - A transitional juvenile/1st winter gull showing (a suite of) features characteristic of Larus canus brachyrhynchus (Mew Gull). Watched for 15 min. in very good light at c. 80m distance on the water and then for 2 min. in flight. Then it flew away and was not re-located.
Thu 2nd Nov 2006 : Dunham Lakes - 3 Snipe, 1 Redshank, Great spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Wigeon/Tufted Duck numbers still growing but only 2 Pochard.

Wed 1st Nov 2006 : Keyworth - At least three flocks (about 30-60 in each) of Fieldfares flying west over Keyworth-Stanton on the Wolds in the morning.
