Colwick CP - West Lake: 22 Wigeon, Goldeneye, Kingfisher, Trout Lake: Mediterranean Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull [Log Boom], Red-crested Pochard [male & female], Mandarin, Black Swan, Common Snipe [Lodge Bay], plus Red Admiral butterfly.

Sutton Bonington - c.100 Fieldfare [in trees, north side of Landcroft Lane], 10 Tree Sparrow, Yellowhammer [on feeder].
King's Mill Reservoir - 12 Snipe, Teal [good numbers], Pochard [good numbers], Common Gull [numerous with the Black-headed Gulls].
Attenborough NR - Bittern [delta, from hide], Water Rail [Church Pond], Snipe [Clifton Pit].

Mon 29th Jan

Colwick Park - 146 Tufted Duck [in a raft on the Trout Lake - 75% were male], 34 Lapwing, 1 Mandarin [on Trout Lake in the usual area], 4 Red-crested Pochard, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker [displaying to each other near West Lake], 1 Goosander [at the lock], 1 Willow Tit [near walled garden but beware of the anti-social behaviour that was going on there today - report it to the police if encountered], 2 Bullfinch.
Dunham Lakes - Brambling [male with mixed finch & tit flock in trees next to road entrance], 2 Goosander, 78 Mute Swan, 22 Pochard, 80 Tufted Duck, 220 Wigeon.
Attenborough NR - Bittern [from delta hide], Red-tailed Hawk [perched behind Barton Island].
Hoveringham - American Wigeon [drake still present on the Railway Pit].
Moorgreen Reservoir - 2 Treecreeper, 2 Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, 139 Black-headed Gull, 87 Coot, 13 Great Tit, 11 Blue Tit, 4 Nuthatch, 11 Ruddy Duck [inc. 4 males].
Cotgrave CP - 17 Common Snipe, 4 Jack Snipe.

Sun 28th Jan

Holme Pierrepont - 3 Smew [1 male & 2 female mobile between Blott's Pit & Skylarks NR], 1 Knot [Blott's Pit], Kingfisher [Ski lagoon], Goldeneye [several on various pools], Pochard, Gadwall, Wigeon, Sparrowhawk, Peregrine, 32 Little Grebe. A52 Pit: 900 Wigeon, 150 Lapwing, 3 Goldcrest.
Hoveringham - 4 Whooper Swan [field across road from Railway Pit], American Wigeon [drake still present, feeding with 30 Eurasian Wigeon], Kestrel, Goldeneye, 50+ Fieldfare, Oystercatcher, Goosander.
Netherfield - 6 Grey Partridge, 1 Shelduck, 1 Stonechat, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Tawny Owl, 14 Golden Plover, 85 Lapwing, 3 Goosander, 2 Willow Tit, 46 Fieldfare, 12 Redwing, 1 Grey Wagtail.

South Muskham GPs - 8 Whooper Swan, 300 Wigeon, 65 Goldeneye, 15 Pochard, 2 Stonechat [male & female], Common Sandpiper, Merlin [female], Little Owl.
Nottingham Trent University - 2 Peregrine.
Hoveringham - American Wigeon [drake still present].
Annesley Pit Top - 1 Raven [to west], 3 Stonechat [around bottom lagoon - 1 male & 2 female], 80 Redwing, 5 Common Snipe, 95 Black-headed Gull, 169 Lapwing, 14 Magpie [13 in one tree], 3 Yellowhammer, 52 Coot [site record].

Fri 26th Jan

Colwick CP - Nature Reserve: Great Spotted Woodpecker, Treecreeper. West Lake: 32 Wigeon, 2 Goldeneye, Argentine Blue-bill, 6 Siskin. Trout Lake: 32 Gadwall, 19 Shoveler, 3 Goldeneye, 3 Red-crested Pochard [2 males & 1 female], Mandarin [drake].
Hoveringham - 2 Stonechat [pair in hedging between Sailing Pit and River Trent].
Annesley Pit Top - 1 Raven [to NW], 13 Greater Black-backed Gull, 1 Jay, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 32 Teal, 26 Mallard, 8 Gadwall, 11 Tufted Duck, 43 Coot, 1 Tawny Owl [at 09.40], 51 Black-headed Gull, 12 Blue Tit, 6 Stock Dove.
Stanford Hall East Leake - 4 Buzzard [circling as a group].
Sutton Bonington - 3 Tree Sparrow [on feeder], 1 Red-legged Partridge [in field opposite], c.100 Fieldfare [feeding in sheep field abeam the Agricultural College, Landcroft Lane]. c.50 Lapwing [feeding in field opposite farm, Hungary Lane].
Attenborough NR - Goosander [at least 13 on Works Pond], Shelduck, Lesser Redpoll [feeding in Alder opposite the Delta], Tree Sparrow [24+ on feeders], Pochard, Goldeneye, Shoveler, Teal, Grey Wagtail [Wheatear Field], Bullfinch [pair].

Thu 25th Jan

Wollaton - Pink-footed Goose [about 300 to NW at 9.10].
Newark - Pink-footed Goose [2 skeins of 600+ flying NW over at 8.00am].
Carburton - Smew [redhead on lower lake till it flew off towards Clumber late afternoon. Present since Monday 22nd Jan 2007].
Annesley Pit Top - Pink-footed Goose [about 700 to NW between 0900 & 0930 in 3 skeins]

Holme Pierrepont - 6 Shoveler [3 pairs on Blott's Pit].
Newstead - 2 Brambling.
Nuthall - 1 Reed Bunting [male at the dismantled Nuthall Railway behind Little Holland Gardens].

Tue 23rd Jan

Rise Park - c.40 Pink-footed Goose [heading NNW at 12:15pm].
Hoveringham - 5 Whooper Swan [in field by gate to sailing club], American Wigeon [in Eurasian Wigeon flock north side of sailing lake], Tawny Owl [in tree south of sailing lake].
Attenborough NR - 4 Common Gull, Shelduck, Goldeneye.
Holme Pierrepont - Gadwall [small pond on right leading to ski tow], 3 Smew [1 drake and 2 females on the pit between the start of the regatta course and the Trent], 1 Redshank.
Arnold - 40 Pink-footed Goose [flying west].

Mon 22nd Jan

Gedling - Peregrine [multiple sightings over a couple of days in a garden feeding on other small birds - observed for upto 30 minutes].
Holme Pierrepont - Gyrfalcon [grey phase bird on Blott's pit. Pity about the jesses and bell it was wearing. Seen later on in the grounds of Blott's nightclub being mobbed by Carrion Crows].
Fountaindale - 1 Brambling [with c.25 Chaffinch], c.15 Siskin, 4 Teal [on floodwater].
Sutton Lawns Park - Brambling [10 at least, mobile with flock of 100+ Chaffinches ].
River Trent - Victoria Embankment: Green Woodpecker, 2 Grey Wagtail. Clifton Bridge: 7 Goldeneye, 40 Pink-footed Goose [09:45 - over and west]. Beeston Rylands: Merlin [male], Common Buzzard.
Attenborough NR- Main Pit: 10 Goosander. Erewash Field: Stonechat [female], 7 Meadow Pipits Skylark.
Hoveringham - American Wigeon [on Railway Pit mid-morning, opposite bumps]
Attenborough NR - Mediterranean Gull [1st winter on Tween Pond], c.150 Pink Footed Geese [skein heading NW], 2 Herring Gull.

Holme Pierrepont - 1 Knot [Blotts pit], 3 Smew [on the finger ponds, including one drake].
Sutton Lawns Park - 25 Brambling [with large Chaffinch flock].
Kinoulton - 1 Barn Owl, 2 Little Owl [Vimy Ridge Farm. Barn Owl quartering over the fields for about 15 mins. Little Owls both sitting on the same gate post].
Holme Pierrepont - Finger Ponds: Green Woodpecker, 3 Goosander, Goldcrest, Kingfisher. A52 pit: 2000 Wigeon, 22 Goldeneye, 28 Redshank. Rowing Course: 2 Smew [male & female, adjacent pond with new openings], Redshank [on edge of rowing course], 4 Goldeneye [all female at the end of the rowing course]. Blotts: 400 Wigeon, Knot, 7 Meadow Pipit, 5 Skylarks

Hoveringham - Sailing Pit: 3 Bewick's Swan [am], 4 Whooper Swan [main gate], American Wigeon, 3 Shelduck, 2 Goosander, 33 Goldeneye, Common Buzzard, Tawny Owl, Green Sandpiper, Redshank, 30 Fieldfare, 15 Redwing, Big Pit: 70 Lapwing, 12 Goosander, 600 Wigeon.
Ratcliffe-on-Soar - 1 Common Buzzard [at the power station].

Hoveringham - American Wigeon [Drake on the sailing pit], 3 Bewick's Swan, 4 Whooper Swan [all swans on fields adjacent the sailing pit].
Annesley Pit Top - 3 Common Buzzard, 2 Stonechat, 338 Lapwing, 37 Teal, 214 Lesser Black-backed Gull [to WNW], 23 Greater Black-backed Gull, 10 Gadwall.
Bestwood Pit Top - 2 Green Woodpecker, 14 Redwing, 5 Linnet, Skylark.
Bestwood CP- 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Willow Tit, Coal Tit, Jay.

Rainworth - Rosy Starling [An unconfirmed report of a single bird with a large Starling flock in the vicinity of Tippings Wood].

Colwick CP - Great Spotted Woodpecker, 4 Lapwing, Mandarin, 6 Red-crested Pochard, 4 Goldeneye, 14 Gadwall, Black Swan.
Kingsmill Reservoir - Greater Scaup [1st winter male at the south end].
Holme Pierrepont - 3 Smew [finger lake closest to rowing course], 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Willow Tit.

Tue 16th Jan

Fountaindale - c.40 Siskin, c.6 Redpoll, Bullfinch [pair], 2 Gadwall [on the pond].
Sutton Lawns - Brambling [at least 6].
Netherfield Lagoons - 150 Redwing [in the hawthorns surrounding the slurry lagoon], 2 Fieldfare, 12 Tree Sparrow [in the hedge near the entrance to the site], 2 Chiffchaff, [in the back hedge of the large fishing pit], 73 Wigeon [on large fishing pit], 1 Willow Tit [in railway bank hedge, near feeding station], 167 Lapwing [now roosting around new pits at the top of Teal Close], 35 Golden Plover, 7 Goldcrest [around the site in the hawthorn hedges].
Rainworth- Brambling [at least 3 with flock of a dozen Chaffinches t thon Hill School]
Stoke Bardolph - 1 Goosander [male near wier at lock wood], 5 Goldcrest, 2 Coal Tit, 1 Treecreeper, 1 Sparrowhawk, 17 Goldeneye [at the sluice past the Ferry Boat].

Annesley Pit Top - 247 Lapwing, 20 Teal, 17 Tufted Duck, 8 Mallard, 6 Gadwall, 1 Little Grebe, 3 Coal Tit, 29 Siskin, 11 Redpoll, 2 Green Woodpecker, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, Pink-footed Goose [2 skeins of 100 & 250, both going west between 10:15 & 10:25].
Attenborough NR - Shelduck, Goldeneye, Common Gull, 3 Egyptian Goose.
University Jubilee Campus - Goosander [2 females, 1 male at 10:30], Mallard [female with 11 ducklings].
Bestwood Mill Lakes - 1 Goosander.

Sun 14th Jan

Attenborough NR - New Workings: 300 Wigeon, 4 Teal, 3 Goosander, Common Snipe, Jack Snipe. Erewash Field: 12 Linnet, 2 Green Woodpeckers, Jay [over]. Sailing Pit: Smew [female], 240 Golden Plover [very high - to the south-west]. Delta: 2 Shoveler, 4 Gadwall, 2 Little Grebe, 5 Reed Buntings, Bittern [16:40]
Holme Pierrepont - 3 Smew [including 1 drake on finger ponds].
Clumber Park - Greater Snow Goose [white morph flying west in a flock of Pink-footed Goose at approx 13.15]
Girton - Greater Snow Goose [Adult flying west at 12 noon].
Hoveringham - American Wigeon [drake on the sailing pit from 15:00 - 16:00 when it was flushed by a dog walker].
Attenborough NR - 1 Shelduck [Works Pond].

Brook Street - City Centre - Black Redstart [please keep out of Bedford row Monday - Friday]
Langford Lowfields - Green-winged Teal.
Sutton Lawns Park - 26 Brambling [with large Chaffinch flock]
Moorgreen Reservoir & Woods- 40 Pochard, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Nuthatch, 2 Treecreeper, Marsh Tit, Willow Tit, Coal Tit, 30 Linnet, 30 Redwing, 2 Common Buzzards.
King's Mill Reservoir - Scaup [1st winter drake at north end showing very well]
Annesley Pit Top - 2 Shelduck, 5 Gadwall, 36 Teal, 150 Lapwing, Common Snipe, 8 Skylark, 12 Meadow Pipit, 2 Green Woodpecker.

Rampton Quarry - 1 Little Egret [using various deep drains].
Hoveringham - Big Pit: 70 Pochard, 250 Wigeon, Ruddy Shelduck species [SSP-Cape? flew west to east along pit], 4 Goosander, Redshank. New Workings Pit: 30 Teal, 60 Lapwing, Green Sandpiper, Common Buzzard. Sailing Pit: 4 Whooper Swans[main gate], Smew [female, nursery pit], 30 Goldeneye.
Bestwood Country Park - Big Wood: 1 Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, 2+ Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2+ Nuthatch, 2+ Treecreeper, 1 Long-tailed Tit [with no tail!]. Pit Top: 2 Green Woodpecker, 20+ Redwing. Mill Lakes: 1 Egyptian Goose [near peninsula], 2 Bullfinch [a pair], 3 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Little Grebe, c.10 Pochard, 5 Teal [4 male, 1 female]. Water Meadow: 2 Willow Tit, 5+ Redpoll, 2 Bullfinch [a pair]
Sutton Bonington - 4 Tree Sparrow with 3 Yellowhammer [on feeders, Landcroft Lane], Sparrowhawk [hunting fields, Brickyard Lane].
University Jubilee Campus - 2 female Goosander [still present on Main lake], Little Grebe on NCSL Lake [has been present since 9th Oct last year], 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 11 Common Gull, c.70 Black-headed Gull, 4 Jackdaws, Dunnock singing in hedgerow by playing field.

Holme Pierrepont - 3 Kingfisher, 1 Male Bullfinch, Green Woodpecker, Goldeneye, 1 Redshank [usual place at the finishing line on the rowing lake], Wigeon [numerous], Teal, Shoveler, Gadwall, Lapwing.

Mon 8th Jan

Gunthorpe River Trent: 1045 Wigeon, 11 Grey Herons, 10 Goldeneye, Redshank, Great Spotted Woodpecker. Gravel Pits: 14 Pochard, 2 Goosander, Goldcrest.
Bulcote Church Yard - 14 Fieldfare

Holme Pierrepont - A52 Pit: 2500 Wigeon, 42 Goldeneye, 250 Lapwing.
Worksop - Pink-footed Goose, approximatly 150 birds flying west and calling over the town centre.
University Jubilee Campus 1 Little Grebe [female] on NCSL lake, 2 Goosander [female]

Hoveringham - American Wigeon still present on the Railway Pit.
Attenborough - Pink Footed Goose on Barton Flash, Works Pit: 9 Goosander, 7 Shoveler, Main Pit: 20 Goosander, Delta: Water Rail, Bittern [16:35].
Nottingham City Centre - 2 Peregrine [male and female] on Newton Building.

Fri 5th Jan

Gunthorpe GPs - 4 Goosander, 700 Wigeon [all ponds].
Netherfield Lagoons NR - 2 Grey Wagtails [viaduct], 12 Shoveler, 3 Goldeneye, 30 Wigeon [south bank of Trent], Marsh Tit [path by the car auction perimeter].
Stoke Lock - Song Thrush, Nuthatch [Ferry Boat PH], 3 Goldeneye, 2 Stonechats
Edwinstowe - Male Goshawk [juv] - plucking and eating a blackbird on neighbour's back lawn. Observed for approximately 30 minutes.
Clumber Park - 10 Goosander, Marsh Tit [numerous], Nuthatch [numerous], 20+ Ruddy duck, 20+ Shoveler, 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Greater Spotted Woodpecker, 3 Goldcrest, 4 Gadwall, 2 or 3 Little Grebe, 4 Egyptian Goose, 2 Shelduck.

Thu 4th Jan

Shipley Gate Fields [Derbyshire] - 75 to 80 Skylarks on fields south of Shipley Gate plus 1 male Stonechat near Erewash close to MFN.
Hoveringham - American Wigeon still present on the Railway Pit until 14:30 at least.
Colwick Country Park - West Lake: 12 Wigeon, Drake Goldeneye. Trout Lake: 39 Gadwall, 6 Red-crested Pochard [4 male & 2 female], Drake Mandarin, Kingfisher, 2 Green Woodpeckers, Great Spotted Woodpecker.

Wed 3rd Jan

Tresswell Woods - Willow Tit, Jay ,Great Spotted Woodpecker plus a good selection of woodland birds.
Cottam Power Station Lakes - 5 Goldeneye, 2 Male Goosander, 7 Curlew.
Clumber Park - 1 Male Merlin - on Lime Avenue, half mile from main entrance. 12 Goosander, Ruddy Duck [numerous], Shoveler [numerous], 1 Male Mandarin.
Hoveringham - Washings Pit: 11 Great Black Backed Gulls, 11 Common Gulls, 70 Lapwing, Old Works Fishing Pit: 17 Shoveler. Big Pit: Drake American Wigeon [west bank-viewed from the humps - 14:30], Peregrine Falcon [pylon hopping]. River Pit: Drake Pintail, 24 Fieldfare, 3 Redwing, 3 Green Woodpeckers, Tawny Owl. Sailing Pit: 4 Whooper Swans [main gate], Grey Wagtail, 5 Meadow Pippits, 18 Goldeneye, 6 Goosander, Gull roost: Mediterranean Gull [adult], Iceland Gull [2nd. winter].

Colwick CP - Nature Reserve: Tree Creeper. West Lake: 15 Wigeon, Smew (Red-Head). Trout Lake: 2 Goldeneye, 27 Gadwall, 6 Red-crested Pochard (4 males & 2 females), Drake Mandarin, Black Swan, Mediterranean Gull (model boat boom), 27 Lapwing, Dunlin (flying with Lapwing)
Gunthorpe GPs - 5 Whooper Swans (1 ad, 4 juvs), 3 Goldeneye, 1 Stonechat, 1 Chiffchaff
Hoveringham - 1 drake American Wigeon, Mediterranean Gull, 4 Whooper Swans
