Wed 30th Aug 2006 : Eaton - White Stork, viewable from Morton road.
Wed 30th Aug 2006 : Attenborough - Curlew x7[heading west],Common Sandpiper, Garganey, R.C.Pochard,Bahama Pintail.
Wed 30th Aug 2006 : Attenborough N.R. - Little egret, oystercatcher, yellow-legged gull, 2 commmon buzzards and red-tailed hawk over heronry wood.
Tue 29th Aug 2006 : Netherfield - 1 Western Yellow legged Gull, 100+ House Martins and Sand Martins over the large fishing pit during a heavy shower. Flock of 25 Linnets on the rape stubble that borders the Eastern edge of the site, 3 Grey Partridge also on same field, 26 Little Grebes just on the slurry lagoon alone and another 10 on the deep water pit, this year seems to have been very good for them on the site, is it the same elsewhere? 1 Greater Spotted Woodpecker

Tue 29th Aug 2006 : Gamston (near Retford ) - White Stork, with a Darvic ring.
Tue 29th Aug 2006 : Bingham - 3.30pm on the A46 just south of Saxondale roundabout, 1 Ringtail Harrier drifted low over the road in a westward direction towards Ratcliffe on Trent. Underside not seen, upperside general dark brown colour with white rump and barred tail. On size and rather pointed wings would guess more likely to be Montagu's but all over in a flash and bird not relocated on immediate return and search of fields on west side of A46.
Tue 29th Aug 2006 : Bestwood (Mill Lakes) - Common Sandpiper, 6 Bullfinches, 6 Chiffchaffs, 10 Willow Warblers plus, House Martins -- a noticeable movement during the day to the SE, c190 birds observed.
Mon 28th Aug 2006 : Lound - Little Egret, Spotted Redshank, Greenshank, Common sandpiper, 2 Green Sandpiper, Ruff, Little ringed Plover. A White Fronted Goose also seen from observation bank at c9.30.
Mon 28th Aug 2006 : Holme Pierrepont (Blotts Pit) - 3 Wigeon, Hobby
Mon 28th Aug 2006 : Holme Pierrepont (A52) - 12 Wigeon, 5 Swifts, Whitethroat, 2 Reed Warblers, Little Egret.
Mon 28th Aug 2006 : Calverton Pit top - A brief visit to this site produced; 1 Turtle Dove on edge of the plantation, 2 Common Buzzards, 4 Stock Doves, 2 Tree Pipits, 3 Greater Spotted Woodpeckers, Treecreeper on plantation edge and a large Tit flock and plenty of Jays. plus 7 Skylarks, 1 Kestrel, 17 Meadow Pipits in a flock, 1 Nightjar flushed by dog walker on the Forestry Commission land close by, Male bird had white wing markings. **The pit top itself is not open to the public but walking the edge of it, and keeping to the footpaths. seems to offer good birding potential.**
Sun 27th Aug 2006 : Radcliffe. - 3 Hobbies around the cliffs at around 10am. After 10 minutes flew towards Netherfield.
Sun 27th Aug 2006 : Hoveringham (Works Pit) - 2 Little Egrets, 2 Red Crested Pochard [eclipse male + female.]
Sun 27th Aug 2006 : Hoveringham (Railway Pit and New Workings) - 2 Little Egrets, 2 Greenshanks, 2+ Common Sandpipers, 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 or 2 Redshanks, 1 Buzzard, 2 Yellow Wagtails, 1 Whinchat.
Sun 27th Aug 2006 : Hoveringham (New Workings) - Little Egret, Western Yellow-Legged Gull, Greenshank, 2 Green Sandpipers, 2 Redshank.. + Painted Lady Butterfly + mobile flocks of Linnet,Yellow Hammers & Meadow Pipits.
Sun 27th Aug 2006 : Hoveringham (Big Pit) - Little Egret, 7 Common Snipe, 2 Common Sandpipers, 5 Grey Partridge, 19 Grey Herons + 2 Brown Hares.
Sun 27th Aug 2006 : Holme Pierrepont - A52 pit green sandpiper, several hundred coot, heard a greenshank.
Sun 27th Aug 2006 : Cossall - Spotted Flycatcher, by the canal.
Sun 27th Aug 2006 : Bestwood (Mill Lakes) - Hobby briefly in the morning.
Sun 27th Aug 2006 : Attenborough - Common Sandpiper,R.C.Pochard,Snipe,Oystercatcher x4[inc 2 juveniles],Buzzard x4
Sat 26th Aug 2006 : Netherfield - 2 Green Sandpipers, 1 Greenshanks, 1 Peregrine at 11.43, 17 Shovellers, 5 Common Snipes, 1 Jay, 3 Backcaps. Lots of young birds in the old hedgerow that runs North of the site entrance and footpath on Severn Trent land, including Tree Sparrow and Reed Bunting. Hopefully this hedge will not be bulldozed in the new development on the land, it was literally full of juvenile birds at lunchtime and is full of established berry bushes and trees including sloe,elder and hazel.

Sat 26th Aug 2006 : Lound (Neatholme Pit) - 2 female Goldeneyes
Sat 26th Aug 2006 : Lound (Hayton Common) - c100 Linnets, 10+ Tree Sparrows, 6 Yellow Wagtails and 2 Yellowhammers.
Sat 26th Aug 2006 : Lound ( Chainbridge NR scrape) - 31 Snipe, 4 Black-tailed Godwits, 1 Little Egret.
Sat 26th Aug 2006 : Bestwood (Mill Ponds) - 5 common buzzards 2 adult & 3 young displaying/calling/playing for an hour plus.
Sat 26th Aug 2006 : Barton in Fabis - 1 female Northern Wheatear on fence post near Barton flash. 4 Oystercatchers feeding in cow field near Barton flash + 11 Egyptian Geese. 1 Hobby hawking dragonflys over Branshill wood. 3 Common Buzzards and the Eastern Red-Tailed Hawk(now into its third month in the area) showing very well over Branshill wood.
Sat 26th Aug 2006 : Attenborough NR - 12 Egyptian Geese [Barton Flash], 7 Willow Warblers, 2 Reed Warblers, Sedge Warbler and on Clifton Pit: 2 Little Egrets, Common Sandpiper, Common Snipe. plus Turtle Dove [through to the NW.]
Fri 25th Aug 2006 : Watnall - 14:30 Fernwood Fuels Gravel Yard, Common Buzzard and Sparrowhawk circling together in formation, they seemed to be in total harmony with the Sparrowhawk even flapping quicker and catching up with the Buzzard if it broke its formation.
Fri 25th Aug 2006 : Trent Bridge - Victoria Embankment steps little egret at 10.30am and 2.30pm.

Fri 25th Aug 2006 : Lound (Chainbridge Lane) - An immature female Marsh Harrier reported plus 3 Pintail (via BirdGuides).
Fri 25th Aug 2006 : Lound (Blaco Pits) - 500 Greylag Geese, 200 Coot and 100 Lapwings. A Marsh Harrier was also reported from here last week.

Wed 23rd Aug 2006 : Holme Pierrrepont - 2 greenshank A52 pit, also signs of encroaching 'civilisation' to the area with sightings of men toting theodolites!
Tue 22nd Aug 2006 : Attenborough N.R. - 9 Curlew over,3 oystercatcher,snipe,common sandpiper,2 greenshank,juv.peregrine,red-crested pochard,yellow-legged gull,wigeon,3 buzzards.
Mon 21st Aug 2006 : Attenborough - Little Egret x2,Greenshank,Garganey,Cuckoo,Willow Tit,Yellow Legged Gull,Great Black Backed Gull.
Sun 20th Aug 2006 : Lound - Clayworth Common - A female Merlin flew off a fence post and away towards Neatholme plus adult female Marsh Harrier noted roosting in maize belt (both late afternoon). Also, 30+ Tree Sparrow in hedge at Hayton village end of Chainbridge Lane. Excellent wader passage noted today. Windsurf Pit - 1 Little Egret, 4 Greenshank (plus 5 more over), 3 Ruff, 6 Ringed Plover, 7 Green Sandpiper, 6 Dunlin, 1 Black-tailed Godwit, 100+ Lapwing and 7 Pied Wagtail. Chainbridge NR Scrape - 1 Black Tern (am),1 Little ringed Plover, 1 Common Sandpiper and 6 Green Sandpiper. Neatholme Scrape - 1 Wood Sandpiper, 1 Spotted Redshank, 4 Ringed Plover, 2 Ruff and 1 Kingfisher. Neatholme Pit - 1 Black Tern (same as earlier bird?), 2 Little ringed Plovers and 1 Black-tailed Godwit.
Sun 20th Aug 2006 : Hoveringham - At Hoveringham Big Pit and New Workings, 1 Yellow legged Gull, at least 4 common Sandpipers, 1 Green Sandpiper, 3+ Swifts, Garden Warbler, Willow Warbler and 1 or 2 Spotted Flycatchers (along the railway) ~ first at the site for a number of years

Wed 9th Aug 2006 : Hockerton - Common Buzzard hunting low over fields outside Hockerton.

Tue 8th Aug 2006 : Netherfield - 4 Dunlins (2 with most of underside dark breeding patch and two without), stayed together in a tight group and frequently bullied by Lapwings. 1 female Garganey present all morning. 1 Willow Tit heard and seen along footpath to the site at 12.15, also lots of juvenile warblers in Hawthorns and willows along this path
Tue 8th Aug 2006 : Attenborough - late morning, Common Sandpiper, Snipe, Little Grebe (all Clifton Pit), 5 Kingfishers.

Mon 7th Aug 2006 : Netherfield NR - 1 Little Egret, 2 Greenshanks, 1 Mediterranean Gull, 1 Yellow Legged Gull, 1 Dunlin, 3 Eurasian Teal, 2 Pochard, 1 Common Swift.
Mon 7th Aug 2006 : Cifton Grove/Barton - 13 Black-Tailed Godwit over Holme Pit 6.45pm, 5 Tree Sparrows [Barton-in-Fabis], 1 Turtle Dove roosting in tree on the ponds near Branshill Wood
Mon 7th Aug 2006 : Attenborough - Little Egret[clifton pit],Dunlin+Yellow Wagtail x2[Tween].
Sun 6th Aug 2006 : Stoke Bardolph - A Cape Ruddy Shelduck present on R Trent opposite the Ferry Boat Inn, (Opposite bank) 1600hrs
Sun 6th Aug 2006 : Netherfield - 1 Tree Sparrow, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Common Snipe, 2 Green Sandpipers, 2 Ringed Plovers, 4 Teal, 1 Female Garganey, 1 immature Mediterranean Gull. Also 1 Humming Bird Hawk moth, and 5 Brown Argus Butterflies, still plenty of larger dragonflies.
Sun 6th Aug 2006 : Hoveringham (Works Pit) - 3 Egyptian Geese, 3 Shoveler, 1 eclipse drake & 1 female Red Crested Pochards, 3 Grey Partridges.
Sun 6th Aug 2006 : Hoveringham (Washings Pit) - 3 Western Yellow-Legged Gulls.
Sun 6th Aug 2006 : Hoveringham (Sailing Pit) - 3 Common Whitethroats, Common Sandpiper.
Sun 6th Aug 2006 : Hoveringham (Railway/Big Pit) - Common Sandpiper, Buzzard, Hobby [over & to the NW.] plus Clouded Yellow Butterfly.
Sun 6th Aug 2006 : Hoveringham (New Workings) - 5 Western Yellow-Legged Gulls, Green Sandpiper, plus Broad Bodied Chaser & 7 Black Tailed Skimmers.
Sun 6th Aug 2006 : Holme Pierpoint - Little Egret on trees above main lake c09:00, later flew off in direction of A52, also Greenshank flew over and Tawny Owl calling. 2 Green Sandpipers [Blotts']
Sat 5th Aug 2006 : Netherfield - 5 Adult Greenshank and 1 Juvenile making 6 in total. 1 Male juvenile Marsh Harrier. Superb bird and very fresh, came in from the South East and slowly drifted over the site and Severn Trent land for 5 mins and lazily drifted on thermals before heading N/E. 2 Common Snipe, 1 Yellow Legged Gull, 2 Stock Dove, 2 Tree Sparrows, flew across slurry pit close to observation point on the causeway from N/E and continued going but called has they did. 2 Juvenile Grey Wagtails, 1 Female Sparrowhawk, 1 Dunlin. Plenty of larger Dragonflies and Painted Ladies, odd Red Admiral, Common Blue and Brown Argus present
Sat 5th Aug 2006 : Colwick CP - 2 Garden Warblers, Blackcap[female], 4 Kingfishers [1 juv.], 4 Grey Wagtails, Western Yellow-Legged Gull, Female Scaup [Trout Lake], + 3 Emperor Dragonflies & Common Darters.
Sat 5th Aug 2006 : Collingham - 1500hrs, 9 Green Sandpipers, Common Sandpiper, 315 Lapwing.
Sat 5th Aug 2006 : Attenborough - Water Rail [Clifton pit in the reed bed], Whimbrel [overflying], Yellow legged Gull [Coneries], several small warblers noticeable including Common Whitethroat, Lesser Whitethroat and Chiffchaff.
Fri 4th Aug 2006 : Attenborough - Lesser+ greater Spotted,and Green Woodpecker.Juv Hobby,Juv Sparrowhawk,Bahama Pintail.
Tue 1st Aug 2006 : Fountaindale - Turtle Dove and two Spotted Flycatchers.
Tue 1st Aug 2006 : Attenborough - Common Sandpiper x3 + snipe[clifton pit],Yellow Wagtail x2[tween],Grey wagtail[centre], Juvenile Hobby [L Meadow].
